Los cantantes británicos Ed Sheeran y Elton John presentan ‘Merry Christmas’, su primera colaboración que resulta con temática navideña y que viene acompañado del siguiente divertido videoclip.
‘Merry Christmas’ ha sido compuesta por ambas artistas con producción de Steve Mac. Todo lo que genere la canción es para recaudar fondos para la Suffolk Music Foundation de Ed Sheeran (para otorgar becas a jóvenes músicos) y la AIDS Foundation de Elton John (para luchar contra la epidemia de SIDA). En el vídeo musical, ambientado completamente en esta época festiva, un divertido Ed invita a colarse en su celebración de Nochebuena mientras Elton toca el piano y luego ambos comparten un paseo en trineo rodeados de amigos cantando y celebrando a Navidad.
El tema es el resultado de una propuesta de uno al otro en el año pasado: «Elton me llamó el día de Navidad de 2020 y me dijo: «‘Step into Christmas’ es #6 en las listas, tengo 74 años y todavía estoy teniendo jodidos éxitos en las listas, ¡esto es genial! haz otra canción navideña, ¿lo harás conmigo?» comentó Ed, el cuál no estaba tan ilusionado con la idea, pero el fallecimiento de su amigo Michael Gudisnki le llevó a cambiar de opinión.
Ed Sheeran regresó recientemente, tras dos años retirado de la actividad musical, con su quinto álbum de estudio, “= (equals)”, en una colección de 14 canciones que reflejan sus vivencias durante los últimos años, triunfando en las principales listas de ventas internacionales con los singles ‘Bad Habits‘ o ‘Shivers’. También se ha unido como mentor en el programa de televisión The Voice, haciendo equipo junto a John Legend, Ariana Grande, Blake Shelton y Kelly Clarkson.
Por su parte, el legendario Elton John presentó en octubre “The Lockdown Sessions”, su 32º álbum de estudio con colaboraciones de destacados artistas como Dua Lipa, Charlie Puth, Lil Nas X, Miley Cyrus, GorillaZ, Nicki Minaj, Stevie Nicks, Stevie Wonder o Years & Years entre otros, y que fue grabado por la interrupción de su gira de despedida ‘Farewell Yellow Brick Road‘ debido a la pandemia. Se incluye el exitoso hit global ‘Cold heart’ con Dua Lipa, un tema que toma elementos musicales de 4 temas suyos (‘Kiss the bride‘, ‘Rocketman‘, ‘Where’s the shoorah?‘ y ‘Sacrifice‘).
